Our kickoff this past Sunday was great–lots of new faces, new worship leaders, new student ministers…and lots of old faces too. We opened up the doors on the dining hall and had a cookout. Worship was joyful as we sang together and celebrated communion together. And several folks stayed after for dessert, etc.
This week also marks the time when other campus ministries begin using our building. The Methodists and the Lutherans have been here this week too. It’s great to have so many students back in the building worshipping together after the slow days of summer.
This picture shows the baptismal font during worship. Last week, we baptized a student in worship. Everyone was reminded to remember their baptism. As such, we put the baptismal font in the middle of the aisle so that everyone must walk by it as they enter the chapel and (hopefully) remember their baptism and the fact that God has claimed them.
Our first gathering of the fall semester will be on Sunday, August 16. Dinner is at 6:15p and worship is at 7p. We will be baptizing Aron on this day–it’s been a long time coming and we’re all excited to finally be able to support Aron as he makes this important step on his journey of faith.
