…a blog of stories, news, and information about the Presbyterian Student Center at The University of Georgia…

by the lake at Calvin CenterWe had a great time at the PCM of Georgia Fall Retreat at Calvin Center this past weekend. Students came from UGA, Kennesaw State Univ., Berry College, Georgia State Univ., and Georgia College & State Univ. and spent time together in study, worship, and small groups. We also watched an unfortunate football game on Saturday afternoon (UGA v. Tenn.). The weather was perfect for most of the weekend–we went hiking, went on a hayride, and had a bonfire. All in all, it was wonderful weekend and we’re already talking about next year’s retreat. See you in 2010!

Fall Retreat, Oct. 9-11Our fall retreat is just around the corner, Oct. 9-11, at Calvin Center in Hampton, GA. We are partnering with several other Presbyterian campus ministries in Georgia this fall to have a joint retreat. The cost for UGA students is $50 if you pay by Sept. 23 (scholarships are available, but not after Sept. 23). In addition to a great program, good food, and good friends, we’ll have plenty of “retreat time” to hike, use the prayer labyrinth, and (of course) listen to/watch the UGA v. Tennessee game. Hope you can make it!

Last weekend, we went to Cherokee Retreat Center on Lake Alatoona for our fall retreat. We spent time relaxing, engaging in ancient spiritual practices, and (of course) watching the UGA v. Kentucky game. The weather was beautiful and the leaves were amazing. We had the whole camp to ourselves, so that was cool.

One thing that we did that I particularly enjoyed was a time of Lectio Divina in which we did some painting with oil on canvas. I’m still waiting on my painting to dry, but I’m happy with how it turned out.

There was also a great Prayer Labyrinth there. We did that together on Sunday morning.
