Seeds GrowingSeveral students at the PSC have formed a community group around gardening (Gardening Group, 6:30p, Mondays). They are looking at ways of being better stewards of our resources here at the PSC. As you may know, we starting cooking for the Bigger Vision Winter Shelter on Wednesday nights. If you’ve been on the property lately, you know that we compost our food from Sunday evening dinners. The Gardening Initiative is hoping to bring all of these activities together over the next year in a circle of stewardship.

Pictured above are pots that contain seedlings of plants that the students hope to grow in the coming months (using our own compost). Our goal is to use the plants that we grow on our property in our cooking for the winter shelter. We’ll keep you updated in the coming months as our garden grows…

Near 100 student organizations at the University of Georgia have joined together to form Dawgs for Haiti, an organization dedicated to mobilizing students to help in the relief efforts following the devastating earthquake in Haiti on Jan. 12. Currently, Dawgs for Haiti is raising funds online and through the sale of tee shirts. These funds will be split between Doctors Without Borders and the Red Cross. Tee shirts are on sale in Tate plaza–check the Facebook group for details.

Our prayers are with the people of Haiti and those who are working to bring relief. All are welcome to join us in worship on Sunday as we pray together. Also, our Chapel is open from 9a-5p during the week for prayer and ministry staff is always here during that time to pray with you.

In the wake of this tragedy, we believe that God is calling out to us from Haiti. Join us as we answer that call as a community of faith while seeking the Kingdom of God for the people of Haiti.

As this week progresses, we are increasingly distressed by the news that is coming out of Haiti following the earthquake. Join us this Sunday for worship at 7p as we offer our prayers for the people of Haiti. If you are looking for a way to give, please visit Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. If you are looking for a way to pray, click here.

In the coming days, student leaders at the University of Georgia will be launching a campaign to aid the people of Haiti called “Dawgs for Haiti.” We will give details when we know more. סֶלָה
